In the past 48 hours, we’ve seen $1,300 additional gifts given to this ministry! Thank you those of you who have given!

As of today, we only need an additional 23 people to give $300 to reach our budget for the ‘09-’10 fiscal year! Each gift given is another step that you, our support team, is helping us take towards being able to continue reaching students on campus.

Fiscal Year End Update

Thank You For Your Generosity!

Earlier this month, we sent out our June newsletter in which we included an end of the fiscal year update. At that time, we still had $10,000 to raise before the fiscal year closes on June 30th (Wednesday!). We needed 34 people to give $300 to reach our goal. Today, we praise God for many of you who have given gifts from $50 to $400, a total of $2,270, to help us end the year in good financial standing.

From 34 to 28!

God Brings Forward Momentum at Leadership Retreats

CSUSM’s Leadership Retreat: Catalina Island

Next year’s leadership team, 30 CSUSM students, set out for a weekend of planning and visioning on Catalina Island (at InterVarsity’s Campus by the Sea). In John 1:35-51 we witnessed Andrew beginning to follow Jesus and that very day go out and bring in his brother Peter. Then we saw Philip, after being called by Jesus, immediately go out and bring back his friend Nathaniel. It struck me that our leadership team is a lot like these first disciples. . .

USD’s Leadership Retreat: Big Bear

By far, this was the best Leadership Retreat we’ve had at USD! Here are a few quotes from students about their retreat experience:

Kirstee’s Story of finding Christ

Kirstee recently started a relationship with Jesus! Her story reminds me of the man Jesus talks about in Matthew 13:45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. ⁴⁶When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.” Read her story below about how she felt her whole life like she desired to know God but how not until this year did she finally had a community in her life to explain how to do that!

No More Secrets at CSUSM

This month on campus we asked students to share the secrets they hold anonymously. It was eye-opening and heart-breaking to realize how much hurt and pain exists in secret on our campus. Here are some of the secrets that students shared: “I was molested when I was 12″ “I had an abortion one month ago” “I’m addicted to porn” “I don’t feel safe at home” … Wednesday night we talked about how God can free us from the secrets that burden us… To read more about this outreach and to hear how to pray for the ministry at USD & CSUSM please read ourFebruary Prayer Letter.

Sorority Recruitment - USD

Sorority Recruitment

At USD, 340 women (mostly Freshmen) are going through Sorority Recruitment right now. Keep them in your prayers. I gave an announcement about Greek InterVarsity at their Recruitment Orientation Tuesday night, and was able to have a table during the first day of Recruitment yesterday!

I was struck by the possibilities - some of those girls will become spiritual leaders in their chapters some day. These women are very talented, driven, and passionate, I get so excited when I think about the impact they could have on their communities and the world if they turned their lives to Christ.

I was struck by the brokenness - I can’t count the number of conversations I overheard yesterday about sex, partying, and drinking. There’s so much hurt and so many Greek students are searching in all the wrong places for a purpose in life. . . Lord, may your Kingdom come! This all helps to remind me why we do what we do!
